Wilkes Men's and Women's Swimming Fall at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's swimming squads fell at Arcadia University Saturday afternoon. The Colonel men fell 122-51, while the Lady Colonels dropped a 116-66 decision.

On the men's side Chris Bright took first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.17. Mike Henne, Austin Paisley (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area), Will Hauze (Wapwallopen, PA/Holy Redeemer), and Greg O'Malley (Binghamton, NY/Windsor) placed first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.25. Hauze also placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.70 and Henne placed third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:17.04.

For the Wilkes women, Mandy Stickles, Hannah Whitesel (Newville, PA/Big Springs), Becky Gordon and Lauren Merli (Jessup, PA/Valley View) placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:04.06. Beth Chiml placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.69 and second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:29.13.

Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), Sarah Cole (Hanover Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary), Cassie Morey and Chiml took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:03.67. Cole had two second place individual races, finishing second in 100 butterfly (1:08.46) and 500 freestyle (6:29.69). Merli added a third place finish with her 1:01:36 time in the 100 freestyle.

The squads return to the pool next weekend when they swim at the Diamond Invitational hosted by King's at the CYC in Wilkes-Barre. Swimming will begin at 12:00 p.m.
