Wilkes moves to 4-1 overall to start the season following the home victory extending its winning streak to four games. Elizabethtown drops to 1-4 after the loss. Wilkes used its pressure defense in the first half to limit the Blue Jays to just 36.4 percent shooting from the field. Brunner added all the offense the Colonels needed in the frame scoring 15 of his game-high 20 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting. A Brunner inside score and subsequent foul put Wilkes up 23-14 with 5:41 left in the half. From there, rookie guard John Goffredo (Bangor, PA/Pius X) caught fire from behind the arc canning three straight three-pointers to extend the Colonel advantage to 31-16 with just over three minutes till the break. Another three-point play from Brunner gave Wilkes a 39-25 lead at the half. Elizabethtown made things interesting early in the second half coming out of the gates on an 8-0 run to cut the Wilkes lead to 36-35 with 16:42 on the clock. Wilkes settled in after the Blue Jay spurt scoring back-to-back inside buckets from Brunner and Mason Gross (Hughestown, PA/Pittston) to end the Elizabethtown run. Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) scored on an old-fashioned three-point play and Tyler Jackson (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) added two free throws to up the Wilkes advantage back to double digits at 60-48 with 7:22 remaining.
