Wilkes set numerous school records in the meet at Lycoming

WILKES SWIMMING COMPETES AT LYCOMING TRI-MEET
 
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's swimming teams competed at the Lycoming College tri-meet Saturday afternoon. The Colonels men fell 119-41 to host Lycoming while the Wilkes women dropped a 116-41 decision to Lycoming and fell 92-72 against Stevenson University.
 
Both teams continue to look for their first wins of the 2014-15 season.
 
For the Colonels men, the relay team of Mike Henne, Thurman Fogleman (York, PA/William Penn), Chris Bright and Austin Paisley (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area) finished third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:04.63. Will Hauze (Wapwallopen, PA/Holy Redeemer) broke the school mark in the 1000 freestyle finishing third with a time of 11:52.57, cracking the previous mark of 12:20.20 set by Kevin Augustine in 1978. He also shattered his school mark in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:46.09 finishing third in the event. Fogleman broke his previous school mark set earlier this season in the 100 butterfly finishing fourth at 1:08.88. Bright concluded the Wilkes men's record-setters with a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke coming in at a school-best time of 1:11.92.
 
For the Wilkes women, Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) set the school mark in the 1000 freestyle finishing in second at 13:26.65. Evers also set a season-best in the 500 freestyle finishing third at 6:26.96. Cassie Morey bettered her previous school-record in the 50 freestyle coming in at 28.00 for second place. Morey also broke her previous mark in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:03.13 for fourth place. Beth Chmil broke her previous record in the 200 IM swimming in at 2:26.09 for third place. Chmil also shattered the school record by over thirteen seconds in the 100 breaststroke taking first place at 1:15.47. Sarah Cole (Hanover Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary) set the school record in the 100 butterfly finishing second at 1:07.32.
 
Both Wilkes squads travel to Glenside, Pa. next Saturday for a tri-meet with host Arcadia University and Ocean County College starting at 1:00 p.m.
