The Wilkes men's squad will begin the action playing in the fourth annual Cross County Challenge hosted by King's College on Friday. The Colonels open the round robin tournament with a matchup against Marywood University at 6:00 p.m. before playing the University of Scranton on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Scandlon Gymnasium. Friday's game against Marywood will also be televised live locally on WQMY-TV, My Net TV (Comcast channel 811 HD, Service Electric channel 504HD, Direct TVHD channel 53, Dish Network channel 53, over the air channel 53.1) with Bob Ide and Doug Walsh on the call. Live Stats / Live Radio Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) and Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) continue to lead the Colonels from the perimeter averaging 18.4 and 16.3 points per-game respectively. Both guards are shooting over 36.0 percent from long range having combined for 58 of the squads 88 three-pointers made. Zachary Brunner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) anchors Wilkes inside the paint averaging 12.7 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per-game. Wilkes is averaging 77.5 points per-game while allowing 74.5 points per-contest. The Lady Colonels (5-3) look to bounce back from a loss against Keystone in its last contest before the break on December 15 when it travels to Gettysburg, Pa. to play in the Gettysburg College Tournament on Sunday and Monday. Wilkes opens play Sunday against Neumann University at 4:00 p.m. in the tournament's opening game. The consolation game is slated for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5 while the championship contest will begin immediately after at 4:00 p.m. Host Gettysburg and Hood College will play in the other tournament opening game.
