WILKES BASKETBALL TEAMS CONTINUE ROAD STRETCH AT EASTERN SATURDAY
 
ST. DAVIDS, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams continue their road stretch Saturday, February 15 as both squads travel to St. Davids, Pa. for a Freedom Conference doubleheader at Eastern University.
 
The Lady Colonels will take the court at 1:00 pm, followed by the men's matchup at 3:00 pm.

The Colonel men (8-13 overall, 3-8 Freedom) come into Saturday's game against the Eagles (8-14 overall, 2-9 Freedom) after a tough road defeat at FDU-Florham on Wednesday. The last matchup between the teams ended in a nail biter as Wilkes took a 72-71 victory when the Eagles' Anthony Parenti missed a potential game-winning floater as time expired.
 
Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) leads the Colonels in scoring with 13.9 points per-game and has made a team-high 58 three-point field goals this season. Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) follows averaging 11.5 points this season and adds to the deadly three-point shooting duo with 55 three-pointers made this year. Stravinki also leads the team with 113 rebounds. Pat Furst (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks West) enters the matchup averaging 11.1 points per-game on 53.8 percent shooting. Tyler Jackson (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) runs the Colonels offense posting a team-best 46 assists.
 
For the Eastern men, Malcolm Garrison averages 13.5 points-per game, with Shaquan Turk (12.0) and Jimmie Willis (11.4) all averaging double figures. Garrison leads the Eagles with 54 converted three-pointers this season, and Caleb Knudsen enters the game averaging 7.5 rebounds per-game.
 
In their last matchup, Wizar led both teams in scoring with 25 points. Garrison was the high-scorer for the Eagles with 22 points, while Knudsen added 16. The Colonels are 2-3 in their last five games, while the Eagles are 1-4.
 
The Lady Colonels (5-17 overall, 2-9 Freedom) enter the game on a three-game skid. Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) leads Wilkes and the Freedom Conference with 19.6 points per-game. She has made a team-high 54 three-pointers and 74 free throws this year. Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) averages 11.4 points per-game, adds 9.3 rebounds to her performance, and has a team-high 45 steals this season. Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) enters the game averaging 4.6 points and 7.7 rebounds, and has a team-high 58 blocks this year.
 
The Eastern women enter the contest with a record of 12-10 overall, 7-4 in Freedom games.  They took their last matchup against Wilkes 60-46, with three players scoring in double-figures.
 
Meghan Nowak leads the Eagles with 16.0 points per-game and averages 8.7 boards. Kaitlyn Dougherty averages 13.3 points per-game and 77 assists. Emily Lavin anchors the Eagles backline with a team-high 61 blocks.
