NO. 9 WILKES WRESTLING CRUISES PAST CROSS-TOWN RIVAL KING'S 43-3 ON SENIOR NIGHT
 
WILKES-BARRE – The No. 9 Wilkes University wrestling team took wins in nine of ten bouts including three extra point victories on way to a 43-3 victory over cross-town rival King's College Thursday night at the Marts Center.
 
Wilkes concludes its 2013-14 dual match season with an 18-3 mark. King's finishes 2-13 overall.
 
Wilkes opened the match with a pair of forfeits at both 125-pounds and 133-pounds. Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) continued the extra point roll for the Colonels pinning Giacomo Dinicola in :45 at 141-pounds as Wilkes led 18-0 after three bouts.
 
Mark Hartenstine (Easton, PA/Easton) moved to 34-1 on the year with a 4-0 win over Chris Mazzocchi pushing the Wilkes advantage to 21-0. Another King's forfeit at 165-pounds came after Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) posted a 14-0 major decision over Gordon Custer at 157 as Wilkes led 31-0 through six bouts.
 
Nick Lynch (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) earned a 5-3 decision over Angelo Lussi at 174-pounds using two takedowns and an escape to seal the victory. King's posted a decision win at 184-pounds before Eric Bach (Newton, NJ/Kittatiny) (197) pinned Cemah Tudae-Torboh in 1:42. William Fletcher (Ottsville, PA/Palisades) finished the Wilkes scoring claiming a 2-0 decision over Elijah Gresham at 285-pounds
 
Prior to the match, nine Wilkes seniors were recognized for their efforts on the mat for the Colonels over the past four years. Seniors included: Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill), Hartenstine, Krawchuk, Lauchaire, Fletcher, Lynch, Phil Racciato (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl), Seth Gray (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and Michael Shannon.
 
Wilkes is idle until Sunday, March 2 when they travel cross-town to King's for the East Regional starting at 9:00 a.m.
