NO. 9 WILKES WRESTLING WINS BATTLE VS. NO. 25 TCNJ; NOTCHING 799^TH PROGRAM WIN

EWING, NJ -- The No. 9 Wilkes University wrestling team picked up another dual match win as they won the final two matches of the evening to win 19-13 at The College of New Jersey.

In a packed "Packer Hall" and standing room only capacity, the Colonels used a hard-fought 3-2 win from 197-pound Eric Bach (Newton, NJ/Kittatiny) to take a 16-13 lead. 285-pound William Fletcher (Ottsville, PA/Palisades) solidified the dual match win with a 6-0 win in the final match of the night to give the Colonels the 19-13 win.

Wilkes improves to 16-3 on the season in dual matches while TCNJ falls to 8-6. The Colonels now stand at 799 program victories and will have a chance to notch their 800^th win on Valentine's Day evening.

The Colonels opened the meet leading 7-0 after #10 125-pound Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) posted a 6-2 decision and 133-pound Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) won 10-0 for a major decision. #5 149-pound Mark Hartenstine (Easton, PA/Easton) improved to 32-1 on the season with a 4-0 decision to put the Colonels up 10-4. 157-pound Kristopher Krawchuk gave Wilkes a 13-4 lead after winning a 7-4 decision. The Lions won the next three bouts by decision before Bach and Fletcher came through at the end to seal the Colonels win.

The Colonels will compete at the Messiah Open tomorrow starting at 10 A.M. and they will go for their 800^th program victory next Friday when they wrestle Ithaca starting at 7:00 P.M.
