EARLY GOAL PUSHES MUHLENBERG PAST WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER

ALLENTOWN, PA – Krissy Fioretti's corner kick goal proved to be the difference as host Muhlenberg College posted a 1-0 win over Wilkes University Friday afternoon.

Wilkes slips to 0-1 following its season opener while Muhlenberg improves to 1-0.

Fioretti's tally came at the 28:36 mark when her corner kick attempt found its way to the back of the net to give the Mules an early 1-0 lead.

Wilkes mustered three of its seven total shots in the second half, but the Lady Colonels could not find the tying goal over the matches final 45 minutes.

Lisa Semetti (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) finished with three saves playing all ninety minutes in net for Wilkes. Jen Mermelstein recorded the shutout win for Muhlenberg making three saves.

Wilkes is back on the road tomorrow traveling to Moravian College for a match at 3:30 p.m.
