FOUR LADY COLONELS SCORE IN 4-0 VICTORY OVER GWYNEDD MERCY

EDWARDSVILLE – Four different Lady Colonels found the back of the net as host Wilkes University posted a 4-0 shutout victory over Gwynedd Mercy Saturday night at Schmidt Stadium.

Wilkes improves to 3-3 overall following the win, while Gwynedd Mercy drops to 1-4 after the defeat.

Micaela Oliverio (Carlisle, PA/Trinity) opened the scoring for Wilkes at 9:22 when Brittany Gurreri (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) slotted a ball through the middle for a finish from Oliverio. Olivia Schlottmann (Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) extended the advantage to 2-0 at the 28:00 mark when her corner attempted found its way to the back of the net.

Wilkes added two more insurance tallies in the second half as Grace Fazzi (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) headed home a pass from Schlottmann at the 71:33 mark and Shelby Trumbo (Landingville, PA/Schuylkill Haven) scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from Caroline Connor (Penfield, NY/Penfield) at 83:18.

Lisa Semetti (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) picked up the shutout win in net making one save on the Griffins lone shot of the game.

Wilkes returns to the pitch Wednesday when the Lady Colonels travel to Wayne, NJ to face William Patterson at 7:00 p.m.
