COLONELS SHUTOUT ON THE ROAD AT ELIZABETHTOWN

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Colonel men's soccer team was unable to muster any goals as they were shutout 3-0 on Wednesday evening, in a non-conference matchup against the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown.

E-Town opened the scoring just 3:48 into the game when a near post corner kick was miss cleared by the Colonels defenders allowing Martin Fevre to corral the loose ball and poke it past Patrick Loube (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown).  In the 8th minute the Colonels nearly tied the match at 1-1, but Casey Ritsick (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood)'s attempt at goal sailed high.  In the 21st minute the Blue Jays added a second when Andrew Sandbridge beat a defender down the sideline whipping a ball on the ground across the box to a sliding David Boretti who scored his first goal of the year.  Shots were 6-4 in favor of E-Town in the first half, with the Blue Jays leading the corner kick department at 3-2.

The Colonels had the better of the play to start the second half and nearly made it a one goal game when Eddie Metzger (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) fired just wide from a tough right angled shot.  E-town tallied their last goal at 68:05 mark when Sandbridge stole the ball from a Colonels defender and finished a 1 v 1 breakaway low and hard to the far post.  The Blue Jays took advantage of their scoring chances finishing three out of four shots on goal while Wilkes was unable to take advantage of their great scoring opportunities.

The Colonels (2-6) will host Lebanon Valley on Saturday in a non-conference game.  Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
