FOUR SECOND HALF GOALS DOOM MEN'S SOCCER AT MUHLENBERG

ALLENTOWN, PA – For 65 minutes the Colonels and Mules played to a 0-0 score line.  Two minutes later the Mules capitalized on a crossed finish and a Colonels own goal to put them up 2-0.  From there Muhlenberg would go on to score two more goals as they cruised to a 4-0 non-conference victory.

Wilkes falls to 1-2 on the year while Muhlenberg improves to 2-0.

The two teams played to a scoreless first half with both teams missing quality opportunities.  Wilkes best chance came when Eric McAnena (Horsham, PA/Abington) fired high off of a re-cross inside the penalty area.  Wilkes generated three shots while Muhlenberg had six shots.  Patrick Loube (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) made two saves for the Colonels in the first half.  Wilkes held a 4-3 advantage in corners.

Lance Dotzman made a streaking central run and was found by a Phil Rahling ball laid off from the baseline into the six-yard box.  Dotzman came crashing into the box and was able to poke the ball over Loube and into the net.  A minute later the Colonels were victims to an unfortunate break when a long throw was misplayed, hit off a Wilkes defender and trickled into the goal.  In the 77th minute Travis Wantchekon ripped a shot past Kyle Romm (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) from the top of the box to make it 3-0.  In the final minute of the game Anthony Carracino cleverly brought a ball down to his feet off a long free kick from goalkeeper Danny Pinto.  Carracino struck the ball half off of his first touch into the far side netting to complete the Mules scoring at 4-0.

Wilkes returns to action on Saturday when they take on Albright College in Reading, Pa.  Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
