Steve Finkernagel Maura Anistranski had the assist on Wilkes lone goal against Scranton WILKES FIELD HOCKEY DROPS 6-1 DECISION AGAINST SCRANTON 9/30/2014 4:40:00 PM Box Score WILKES FIELD HOCKEY DROPS 6-1 DECISION AGAINST SCRANTON EDWARDSVILLE – Three first half goals were all that Scranton needed as they defeated the Lady Colonels 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium. Wilkes falls to 3-6 overall following the loss while Scranton improves to 8-1 on the year. Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) scored her fifth goal in three games to propel Wilkes to an early 1-0 lead. Thirty seconds later Krista Osborne tied the score for the Royals when she scored in close with an assist going to Alyssa Fania. Osborne scored her second of the game off of a breakaway three minutes later beating goalkeeper Lauren Burrows (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) to the right on a nice fake and shooting into an open cage. Osborne finished off her first half hat trick six minutes later when she shot high off of a rebound. Scranton controlled the first taking 11 shots to Wilkes two attempts and out cornered Wilkes 7-3 for the first 35 minutes of play. Osborne added her fourth goal in the second half as Scranton scored three more times in the second frame on way to the 6-1 victory. Lauren Burrows (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) and Kellie Kalada (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) split time in net for Wilkes combining for three saves. Wilkes gets back to Freedom Conference play Friday hosting FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.Print Friendly Version
