Women's Swimming and Diving 1/10/2015 6:35:00 PM Wilkes Swim Teams Fall at Hood (Full Results)Wilkes Swim Teams Fall at Hood FREDERICK, MD – The Wilkes University men's and women's swim teams return to action for the first time following its holiday break as both teams dropped decisions at Hood College Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference action. The Colonel men fell 138-37 while the Wilkes women dropped a 157-34 decision. For the Wilkes men, Jeff Mastrantuono (Waverly, NY/Waverly) broke the school record in the 200 IM coming in second at 2:15.60, over seven minutes faster than the previous mark set by Kevin Augustine in 1978. Mastrantuono continued his record setting day breaking the mark in the 200 backstroke finishing third with a time of 2:18.17, over four seconds better than the previous mark set by Ronald Sweeda in 1975. For the Wilkes women, Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) broke her previous school record mark in the 1000 freestyle coming in third at 13:16.01. Cassie Morey notched the school mark in the 50 freestyle finishing second at 27:47. Sarah Cole (Hanover Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary) finished ten seconds better than the previous school mark in the 200 backstroke coming in fourth with a time of 2:31.81. The Wilkes women's team is back in the pool next Saturday competing in a tri-meet at Cedar Crest College and the College of New Rochelle. Swimming is start at 1:00 p.m. in Allentown, Pa.
