Wilkes Swim Teams Fall at King's

WILKES-BARRE – In its first meeting in the two school's history in swimming, the Wilkes University swimming teams fell at cross-town rival King's College Saturday afternoon.

The Wilkes women dropped a 101-65 decision while the Colonel men fell 100-50.

For the women, the relay team of Sarah Cole (Hanover Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary), Cassie Morey, Beth Chmil and Lauren Merli (Jessup, PA/Valley View) broke the school mark in the 200 medley relay finishing second at 2:01.28. Merli finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.90. Morey took second in the 100 freestyle at 101.30. Cole came in second in the 200 backstroke at 2:36.25.

For the men, Greg O'Malley (Binghamton, NY/Windsor) finished second in the 50 freestyle touching at 23.72 and second in the 100 freestyle at 54.20. Will Hauze (Wapwallopen, PA/Holy Redeemer) finished third in the 200 IM at 2:23.58.

Both Wilkes squads return to the pool tomorrow (Sunday) traveling to FDU-Florham for a meet at 1:00 p.m. in Madison, NJ.
