Steve Finkernagel Men's Wrestling 1/5/2015 8:30:00 PM No. 17 Wilkes Wrestling Posts 29-16 Win at Centenary No. 17 Wilkes Wrestling Posts 29-16 Win at Centenary HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – The No. 17 Wilkes wrestling team took six of ten bouts including two extra point victories on way to a 29-16 win over host Centenary College Monday night in the Colonels first dual match of 2015. Wilkes improves to 7-2 overall following the 13-point victory. Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) moved to 19-1 on the season taking a forfeit at 125-pounds. Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) pushed the Wilkes advantage to 11-0 claiming a dominating 16-1 technical fall in 4:35 at 133-pounds. After a Centenary decision at 141-pounds, James Palys (Scotrun, PA/Pocono Mountain East) took a hard-fought 4-1 decision at 149-pounds as the Colonels led 14-3 after four bouts. Stephen Turner (Plains, PA/Coughlin) earned the Colonels lone fall of the match at 165-pounds pinning Donald Wagner in 4:17 as Wilkes held a 20-9 lead heading into the final four bouts. Levi Veppert (Kempton, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) settled for a forfeit win at 184-pounds and Dave Oberrender (Freeland, PA/Hazleton) rounded out the Colonel winners with a 3-2 sudden victory at heavyweight to close out the road decision. Wilkes travels to the prestigious NWCA National Duals Friday and Saturday in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
