Women's Swimming Opens Season at Widener Relay Carnival
CHESTER, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's swimming team opened its 2015-16 season at the Widener University Relay Carnival on Saturday afternoon.
The competing teams included the host Pride, the Lady Colonels, and Stevenson University.
The relay team of
Cassandra Morey (Chemung, NY/Waverly),
Alana Scorzo (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon),
Sarah Fasulka (Shavertown, PA/Dallas), and
Allie Aspey (Dover, PA/Dover) finished first in the 400 yard relay, while the team of Morey, Scorzo, and Aspey finished second in the 300 yard butterfly relay. Morey,
Amanda Stickles (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham),
Danielle McCole (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer), and
Amanda Lopez (Dallas, PA/Dallas) finished second in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Lopez, Fasulka, Aspey, and Morey finished third in 200 yard medley relay.
Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), Stickles,
Morgan Williams (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), and McCole finished third in the 800 yard freestyle relay to set a new school record at 9:20, while Evers, Williams, and Lopez finished third in the 300 yard backstroke relay. Stickles, Williams, McCole, and Lopez finished third in the 200 yard freestyle relay as well.
Adrianna Stares (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne), Stickles, Evers, and McCole rounded out the meet finishing third in the 7x171 yard freestyle relay.
Wilkes returns to action Saturday when it travels to Stevenson for its first MAC meet of the year starting at 1 p.m.
