Field Hockey Falls in MAC Freedom Semifinals at Top-Seeded FDU-Florham
Madison, N.J. – The Wilkes University field hockey team fell in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) semifinals at top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus by a 4-1 final on Wednesday night.
The Lady Colonels end the season with a 10-10 overall record after going 4-3 in MAC Freedom play to secure the tournaments fourth and final seed.
FDU-Florham got on the board first in the 16
th minute when the Devils were awarded a penalty stroke, which was converted by Kim Davis. FDU struck again in the 26
th minute when Davis found Brooke Sherwin off a corner for a 2-0 lead. The Devils were awarded a second penalty stroke in the 49
th minute which was converted by Stephanie Geskes. Kelly O'Neill added a fourth goal in the 67
th minute with an assist from Kylee Cintron.
Wilkes scored its lone goal in the 66
th minute when
Alysa Adams (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake Lehman) found
Keighlyn Oliver (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin) for a shot to the right side of the net that beat the FDU keeper.
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made 15 saves in net for the Lady Colonels.
FDU-Florham (14-6) advances to face Misericordia in the MAC Freedom Championship on Saturday at FDU-Florham for a shot to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
