Wilkes Women's Basketball Drops 61-45 Decision at Manhattanville
PURCHASE, N.Y. – After leading 11-7 after one quarter, the Wilkes University women's basketball team was outscored 54-34 over the final three quarters falling 61-45 to host Manhattanville College in a MAC Freedom contest Saturday afternoon at Kennedy Gymnasium.
Wilkes falls to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in league games following the loss while Manhattanville improves to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in conference contests.
Leading by four starting the second quarter, the Valiants outscored Wilkes 14-6 in the second quarter to take a 21-17 halftime lead.
Manhattanville pushed the lead to 15 points after the end of the third quarter leading 46-31 entering the final frame. Wilkes never cut the lead down below 12 points as Manhattanville claimed their first league win of the season at home.
Cara Basile (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) led Wilkes with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Jamie Campbell (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) came off the bench to score 11 points including 2-for-2 from long range.
Manhattanville saw three players reach double figures as Ashley Raaf, Ashley Franklin and Candice Scott-Mason all scored ten points in the win.
Wilkes travels to Moravian College Wednesday for a non-conference matchup scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
