Wilkes Swim Teams Conclude Day One at MAC Championships
 
YORK, PA – The first day of the 2015 Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championship was completed on Thursday at the Graham Aquatic Center. Both Wilkes swim teams made their debuts in both the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.
 
For the women in the 200 medley relay the squad of Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), Beth Chmil, Sarah Cole (Hanover Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Cassie Morey finished in ninth place at 1:54.52. The team of Abby Nemeth (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), Nancy Ramirez (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Kiersten Torre (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) and Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) placed eleventh with a school record time of 9:54.72 in the 800 freestyle relay. The mark shattered the previous school mark by almost ten seconds in the process.
 
The men's relay team of Jeff Mastrantuono (Waverly, NY/Waverly), Chris Bright, Greg O'Malley (Binghamton, NY/Windsor) and Austin Paisley (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area) came in at 1:47.91 for eleventh place in the 200 medley relay event. The squad of Bright, Mike Henne, Will Hauze (Wapwallopen, PA/Holy Redeemer) and Thurman Fogleman (York, PA/William Penn) finished eleventh in the 800 freestyle relay with a school record time of 8:26.56. The same team broke its previous mark by nearly thirty-three seconds.
 
Through two events, Albright is on top of the men's standings with 74 points. Widener is in second with 68 points and Misericordia is in third with 64 points. Hood (60 points) and Messiah (54 points) round out the top-five teams.
 
Misericordia and Messiah are tied at the top of the women's standings through two events with 72 points each. Albright sits third with 68 points. Widener (60 points) and Hood (54 points) round of the top-five teams.
 
Day two action begins tomorrow (Friday) at 10:00 a.m. with session two followed by session three at 7:00 p.m.
