No. 11 Wilkes Wrestling Finishes Dual Season with 42-6 Win Over King's

WILKES-BARRE – Visiting No. 11 Wilkes University sued five extra point victories including three falls cruising to a 42-6 victory over cross-town rival King's College in both teams dual season finale on Thursday night in the Scandlon Gymnasium.

Wilkes concludes its 2014-15 dual season with a 15-5 overall record.

After Wilkes recived a forfeit at 125-pounds, Matthew Grossmann (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) continued his fine wrestling pinning Matt Sparks in :34 as Wilkes led 12-0. Pankil Chander (Cedarhurst, NY/Lawrence) pushed the advantage to 17-0 when he earned a technical fall (20-5) over Kevin Kelly at 141-pounds.

Josh Evans (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) added an 8-2 decision at 149 before a King's decision win at 157 cut the Colonels lead to 20-3 after five bouts. Mason McIntyre (Bethlehem, PA/Easton) added Wilkes' second pin of the match with a fall of Angelo Lussi in 1:48 at 165-pounds.

Kyle Diesel (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) scored a 9-0 major decision win over Zachary Smith at 174 extending the lead to a commanding 30-3 with three bouts left. Levi Veppert (Kempton, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) received a forfeit at 184 and Dave Oberrender (Freeland, PA/Hazleton) posted the Colonels final fall of the night making quick work of Brad Luzas in :54.

Wilkes remains idle until March 1 when the Colonels travel to Roanoke, Virginia to compete in the East Regionals. Wilkes won its first-ever East Region title a year ago and will look to defend its crown this season.
