Two Unanswered Goals Lead Field Hockey over Elmira
PINE VALLEY, NY – Three different Lady Colonels registered goals to lead the Wilkes University field hockey team over Elmira College on Wednesday afternoon.
Wilkes improved to 4-2 with the win while the Soaring Eagles fell to 1-5 with the loss.
Elmira struck first in the sixth minute, but junior forward
Haley Coleman (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) was able to tie the score in the 17
th minute when she stole a pass at midfield and was able to put a shot past Elmira goalkeeper Julie Hockenberger.
The Soaring Eagles regained the lead in the 24
th minute, however, the Lady Colonels were determined not to go into halftime with a deficit. In the 35

Taylor Ryan (Spotsylvania, VA/Courtland) settled a pass from freshman back
Alysa Adams (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake Lehman) and backhanded a shot in from 10 yards out to tie the score at 2-2.
Wilkes took the lead for the first time in 61
st minute, as sophomore forward
Kaylee Caprari (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) deflected a shot by Adams in front of the net to give the Lady Colonels a 3-2 lead.
Wilkes held a 21-13 advantage in shots, with 16 hitting the net compared to eight for Elmira.
Freshman goalkeeper
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made six saves in the win.
The Lady Colonels return to action in Saturday when they host Alvernia University for a 12 p.m. non-conference contest at Schmidt Stadium.
