No. 17 Wilkes Wrestling Sweeps Three Matches at Muhlenberg Quad
 
ALLENTOWN, PA – The No. 17 Wilkes University wrestling team swept all three of its matches at the Muhlenberg College quad on Saturday afternoon at the Deitrich Field House. The Colonels opened with a 52-6 win over Southern Virginia before taking a 42-12 decision over Temple Wrestling Club and beating host Muhlenberg 32-12 in the finale.
 
Wilkes improves to 6-1 overall pushing its winning streak to six straight matches in the process.
 
Wilkes opened the day with a convincing win over Southern Virginia 52-6. Wilkes took the first five bouts by forfeit jumping out to a 30-0 lead halfway through the match. Bret McGill earned a technical fall (17-1) over Matthew Rohrdanz at 165 to extend the lead to 35-0 before SVU claimed its only victory of the day with a fall at 174. Nasser McCummings (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) pinned his opponent in 5:10 at 184 followed by a technical fall (18-1) from Jordan Nochimson (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) at 197 to push the lead to 46-6 with one bout remaining. Jacob Huling (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) finished the Colonel scoring with a fall at 285 in 5:30.
 
The Colonel jumped out to another big lead with two forfeits to start the match with the Temple Wrestling Club up 12-0. Cory Fleming (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris) and Jake Dimarsico both earned technical falls at 141 and 149 respectively followed by a major decision win from Ashton Gyenizs (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) at 157 to give Wilkes a 26-0 advantage. Ricky Fornacairi pinned his opponent at 174 and Zachary Faust (Wilkes-Barre, PA/G.A.R. Memorial) was awarded a forfeit at 197 before Huling escaped with his second win of the day with a 4-2 sudden victory at 285 to close the match.
 
Wilkes finished its three-match sweep with a win over the host Mules in its final competition of the day. Five extra point wins propelled the Colonels to the win in the match. Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) inched closer to the 100-win plateau with a forfeit victory at 125. Pankil Chander (Cedarhurst, NY/Lawrence) scored a technical fall (16-0) at 133 followed by Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) pin in 3:37 at 141. Dimarsico finished his day 3-0 with a 12-5 decision at 149 and Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) posted a major decision (10-1) at 157 to push the Wilkes lead to 25-0. Faust took a 17-0 technical fall at 197 and Huling finished the match with a 7-4 decision at 285.
 
Wilkes gets back to action on November 27 when the Colonels compete in the Grapple at the Garden for the second straight season. Wilkes opens with a match against Merchant Marine Academy at 10:30 a.m. before a bout with Stevens at 12:30 p.m. both at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
