Balanced Attack Leads Juniata Over Wilkes Women's Basketball 88-58
HUNTINGDON, PA – Host Juniata College saw four players reach double figures in an 88-58 victory over visiting Wilkes University Wednesday night in a non-conference contest.
With the loss Wilkes slips to 2-5 overall while Juniata improves to 3-2 on the season.
The host Eagles outscored Wilkes in every quarter of play including a 28-13 lead following the opening ten minute stanza. From there the lead grew to twenty at 48-28 at the break before another thirteen-point advantage in the third frame put the contest out of reach.
Wilkes struggled shooting from the field throughout the game finishing a season-low 35.3 percent (18-51) and connected on just four of its 14 three-point attempts.
Juniata also held a decisive advantage on the glass out-rebounding the Lady Colonels 46-23 including 14 offensive rebounds leading to 26 points in the paint.
Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) topped Wilkes offensively with nine points while
Nicole Farrell (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) followed with eight points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor.
Bri Wasser led four Juniata players in double figures pouring in a game-high 16 points while grabbing five rebounds off the Eagles bench.
Wilkes has a quick turnaround playing at home against Moravian College tomorrow (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. at the Marts Center.
