No. 18 Wilkes Wrestling Concludes Dual Match Season with 41-6 Victory Over King's
 
WILKES-BARRE – No. 18 Wilkes University recorded wins in eight of ten bouts including seven extra point victories cruising to a 41-6 victory over cross-town rival King's College Thursday night at the Marts Center.
 
With the win Wilkes moves to 15-6 overall on the year while King's concludes its dual season at 6-16 overall.
 
11893Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) continued his extra point tear with another technical fall in 2:33 (16-0) over James Wright as Wilkes led 5-0 after 125. Richard Gilson (Thompsontown, PA/Juniata) earned an 11-6 decision at 133 upping the advantage to 8-0 after two bouts. At 141 Jessie Lopez (Everett, WA/Everett) made quick time (1:39) pinning Kevin Kelly extending the Wilkes lead to 14-0 before another technical fall from Josh Evans (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) (19-3) at 149 as time expired in the third period putting the Colonels ahead 19-0 through four bouts. King's finally got on the board with a hard-fought 3-2 decision win when Howard Kilpatrick beat Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) at 157.
 
Ashton Gyenizs (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) recorded a major decision at 165 with a late takedown in the third period winning 11-2. After a forfeit at 174, Kyle Diesel (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) moved his season record to 31-4 pinning Nicholas Price in 1:35 as Wilkes led 35-3. Another Wilkes win by forfeit at 197 followed by a King's decision win at 285 rounded out the match.
 
Prior to the match Colonels head coach Jon Laudenslager was presented with his 200-win plaque by Wilkes University President Dr. Patrick Leahy. Laudenslager reached the milestone when the Colonels posted a 35-15 win over RIT in late January at the Marts Center.

Wilkes will now wrestle in the Mideast Regional hosted by Lycoming College next Saturday and Sunday for a chance to earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament in each of the ten weight classes. Wrestling begins at 11:00 a.m.
