No. 10 TCNJ Snaps No. 18 Wilkes Wrestling Four-Match Win Streak with 26-9 Victory
EWING, NJ – Host No. 10 The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) claimed wins in seven of ten bouts including three extra point victories on way to a 26-9 decision over No. 18 Wilkes University Friday night at Packer Hall.
The loss snaps the Colonels four-match win streak with a current record of 14-5 overall. TCNJ improves to 17-2 overall following the dual home win.
Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) opened the match with an 11-8 decision win for Wilkes as the Colonels led 3-0 early. TCNJ grabbed decision wins at 133, 141, 149 and 157 to take its own advantage up 12-3 after five bouts.
The hosts then pushed its lead over the next two bouts with back-to-back major decisions at 165 and 174 before
Kyle Diesel (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) put Wilkes back on the board securing a 4-1 decision win at 184. A TCNJ pin at 197 all but sealed the win for the hosts up 26-6 before
Alex Pullen (Salisbury, MD/Wicomico) earned a 7-2 decision at heavyweight to conclude the match.
Wilkes hosts Ithaca College next Friday night at the Marts Center for a dual starting at 7:00 p.m.
