Second Half Outage Costs Men's Lacrosse against Immaculata
EDWARDSVILLE - Immaculata University eight of the final nine goals to defeat the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team by an 11-7 final at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops the Colonels to 0-3 on the season.
Wilkes came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter, scoring the first four goals and dominating face-offs and possession. Freshman
John Wink (Glenside, Pa./Abington) tallied his first career goal in the fifth minute with an assist from freshman
Matthew Bush (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.). Bush earned his second assist in the sixth minute when sophomore
Matt LaSorsa (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) put home his second goal of the season to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead. Sophomore
Nicholas Ruggiero (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) tallied his third goal in the ninth minute, and LaSorsa scored his second goal of the game in the tenth minute with an assist from Bush to give Wilkes a 4-0 lead at the end of one.
Immaculata came back with three straight goals, scored in the 21
st minute, the 23
rd minute, and the 28th minute to cut the Colonels lead to 4-3.
Ruggiero got his second goal of the game in the 30
th minute when Wilkes was a man up with an assist from
JT Weitzel (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) to give the Colonels a 5-3 lead going into halftime.
Freshman
Max Brown (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) increased the Wilkes lead to 6-3 in the 34
th minute off Bush's fourth assist of the game.
The Mighty Macs then scored in the eight goals in the final 26 minutes while the Colonels scored once from Brown to take the game 11-7.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Susquehanna for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup.
