EDWARDSVILLE – Host Wilkes University tied the game at seven with six minutes remaining before visiting Moravian College scored the contest's final two goals on way to a 9-7 victory over the Colonels Friday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.

Wilkes drops to 0-7 overall on the year following the home defeat while Moravian improves to 6-2 on the season after the road win.

Moravian jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the second quarter before Wilkes began its furious first half comeback. The Colonels answered the Greyhounds run with three unanswered goals of the own. Matt LaSorsa (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) started the scoring with a goal off a John Wink (Glenside, Pa./Abington) assist at the 6:39 mark of the second quarter. Matthew Bush (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) added a man-up goal three minutes later thanks to an assist from Max Brown (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) before Wink notched his first strike of the game with nine seconds left and the Colonels trailing 4-3.

Bush tied the game at 4-4 just a minute into the third quarter off a helper from Jeremy Kachel (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata). Moravian answered just a minute later to take a 5-4 lead through the third quarter.

Moravian pushed the lead to 6-4 with a goal to start the fourth quarter before back-to-back Wilkes goals tied the game again at 6-6 with 9:00 remaining. Matthew Bush (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) notched both strikes with assist from Glenn Weist (Frackville, PA/North Schuykill) and Jeremy Kachel (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata).

Another Moravian tally with 7:56 left gave the Greyhounds a 7-6 lead before Wilkes answered back with a game-tying goal from Max Brown (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) from Kachel. Moravian finally put the game away with two goals over the final three minutes including a clinching score with 1:23 to put the visitors up two.
