Five-Run Seventh Proves Difference as Colonels Fall 10-5 at Marywood
 
SCRANTON, PA – Host Marywood University scored eight runs over the sixth and seventh innings, including a five-run seventh frame, on way to a 10-5 victory over visiting Wilkes University Tuesday afternoon at Pacers Field.
 
Wilkes falls to 17-15 overall following the defeat while Marywood improves to 9-14 on the season.
 
Wilkes took a 2-0 lead after two innings of play as Nick Capozzi (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers)'s fly ball to right field scored Jack Fischer (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) to cap the second frame. After Marywood cut the lead in half with an RBI single in the third, Wilkes' Keaton Allison (Aiken, SC/Aiken) connected on a two-run double in the fourth to push the advantage up to 4-1.
 
Marywood added one in the fourth before pushing across three runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. The Colonels tied the game at 5-5 in the seventh when Matthew Reese (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) scored on a wild pitch from third.
 
From there the host Pacers scored five decisive runs in the seventh to break open the game using two RBI hits to do its damage.
 
Allison led Wilkes at the plate finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jarrett Clymer also added two hits.
 
Patrick Condo (Dallas, PA/Holy Redeemer) suffered the loss on the hill in relief pitching 1.1 innings allowing four runs on three hits.
 
Wilkes hosts FDU-Florham Friday at 3:30 p.m. in a MAC Freedom single game at Artillery Park.
