Wilkes Men's Soccer Powers Past Clarks Summit 3-1
EDWARDSVILLE –
Kyle Bentz (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) scored one goal and added two assists to lead the Wilkes University men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Clarks Summit University Wednesday night at Schmidt Stadium.
Wilkes improves to 2-3 overall following the win while Summit drops to 3-3 on the year after the road defeat.
Wilkes opened the scoring when
Jon Lesko (Vestal, NY/Vestal) played a ball into the middle of the box and the Clarks Summit goalie misplayed the ball landing onto Bentz foot for the open net goal at the 24:01 mark of the first half. Just two minutes later the Colonels struck again, this time Bentz finding
Michael Hasbrouck (Vestal, NY/Vestal) for his second goal of the season pushing the Wilkes lead to 2-0. The goal strike continued later in the half as
John Stoner (Etters, PA/Red Land) put home a Bentz rebound to make it 3-0 Colonels at the break.
Clarks Summit tallied its lone goal of the game at the 69:13 mark of the second half when a Defender forward headed a cross into the back of the net.
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made two saves in net for Wilkes to record the victory.
Wilkes continues its home non-conference stretch Saturday with a matchup against Lebanon Valley College at 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
