Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 at William Paterson
WAYNE, N.J. – The Wilkes University women's soccer team was defeated by a 3-1 final at William Paterson University on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Colonels fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
William Paterson got on the board first, scoring in the fourth and 46
th minutes.
Wilkes got on the board in the 59th minute when sophomore
Nicolette Towlen (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) crossed a pass into the box that was placed inside the far post by senior
Caroline Connor (Penfield, NY/Penfield) to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Pioneers finished the scoring in the 82
nd minute.
Senior goalkeeper
Alyssa Young (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) made one save in the first half while freshman
Samantha Cecere (Batavia, NY/Batavia) made two saves in the second half.
Juniors
Elena Denger (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) and
Ema Sabovic (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) paced the Lady Colonels with two shots on goal each.
Wilkes returns to action on Saturday when it will host Messiah College for a 5 p.m. non-conference contest.
