Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime to Susquehanna 1-0
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's soccer team fought a tough Susquehanna team to the very end, but fell 1-0 in overtime at Schmidt Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Colonels are now 1-5 on the season with the loss.
Wilkes got off to a strong start, out shooting the River Hawks 3-1 through the first 20 minutes. Freshman
Delfina Bracchi (Central Islip, NY/Central Islip) totaled three of the Lady Colonels six shots in the first half but was unable to convert as both teams went into halftime scoreless.
Wilkes came out strong in the second half as well, with junior
Olivia Schlottmann (Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) putting a shot on Susquehanna goalkeeper Jennifer Thorsheim, but Thorsheim was able to stop it. The second half was equal, as both teams finished with five shots and zero goals.
The difference came in overtime, when in the 92
nd Emily Sullivan found herself on a breakaway and was able to put a shot past Lady Colonels' senior goalkeeper

Young made four saves in the game.
Wilkes returns to the pitch on Saturday when it travels to Arcadua University for a 1 p.m. non-conference game.
