EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Two goals in the first 16 minutes led the Wilkes University field hockey team to a 3-0 win over the University of Scranton at Schmidt Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Lady Colonels improved to 7-3 on the season with the victory.

Senior Maura Anistranski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) got Wilkes on the board in the 12^th minute when she lined a shot off Royals goalkeeper Tate Ackerman, collected her own rebound, and put a shot into the net.

Sophomore Megan Kane (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) extended the lead to 2-0 in the 16^th minute when freshman Gianna Gennetts (West Pittston, PA/Wyoming Area) took a shot that was deflected up in the air by a Scranton defender and knocked out of the air and in by Gennetts.

Gennetts finished the scoring in the 39^th minute when she dribbled left at the top of the circle and backhanded a shot through traffic to the back of the net.

Sophomore Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) earned her fourth shutout of the season while making 10 saves.

The Lady Colonels return to action on Friday when they host FDU-Florham in their MAC Freedom-opening game starting at 7:30 at Schmidt Stadium.
