SCRANTON, PA – Jimmy Fields scored the game-winning goal midway through the first half to lift host Marywood University to a 1-0 victory over Wilkes University Sunday afternoon at Pacers Field.
 
Wilkes suffers its first loss of the season following a 3-0 shutout win to open the year at PSU-Berks.
 
Fields took a pass down the right side and darted to the goal on a breakaway before beating Colonels keeper Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) at the 25:27 mark of the first half that prove to be the difference in the contest.
 
In a closely contested game, Marywood held a slim shot advantage at 18-15 while Wilkes mustered right corner kicks to the Pacers five attempts.
 
Gallagher finished with seven saves for Wilkes in net.
 
The Colonels return to the pitch Wednesday traveling to Elizabethtown College for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
