Wilkes Men's Swimming Wins Inaugural Colonel Splash and Dash Invite
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's swim team finished the first annual Colonel Splash and Dash invite at the Wyoming Valley CYC on Saturday morning, finishing first of four teams with 752 points.

Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) set a new record in the 50 butterfly, finishing first with a time of 24.80. Burda also finished first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.39.
Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor) set a new program mark in the 100 IM with a time of 57.89, finishing first. Byrne also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.26 and was third in the 50 backstroke in 26.50.
Anthony Stampone came in third in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.31. Stampone also finished fourth in the 100 freestyle at 52.92, and fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.15.
Tyler Weatherby (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester County Institutional Technology) was third in the 50 butterfly finishing in 26.33 and came in fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.08.
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Upper Dauphin) was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.52, sixth in the 50 backstroke at 28.08, and sixth in the 50 freestyle in 24.13.
The relay team of
Mike Pettit (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area Jr/Sr),
Tyler Deters (Cogan Station, PA/Montoursville),
Chase Osborne (Lords Valley, PA/Wallenpaupack), and Martino finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:37.99. The team of Weatherby, Stampone, Burda, and Byrne were second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:36.36. Martino, Stampone, Burda, and Byrne finished second in the 400 medley relay at 4:02.99.
The Colonels return to action on Friday when they head to Arcadia for a 6:00 p.m. MAC meet.
