Wilkes Men's Soccer Closes out Regular Season with 1-0 Defeat at Manhattanville
PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Wilkes University men's soccer team travelled to Manhattanville College on Saturday afternoon to close out the 2017 regular season, falling 1-0.
The Colonels finished the season under first-year head coach
Michael Piranian 8-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play.
The Valiants controlled the pace of play through most of the first half but Wilkes' defense was up to the task as both teams entered the halftime break with no score.
Manhattanville broke through for the games only score in the 61
st minute.
The Colonels put forth a frenzied comeback attempt over the final 27:30, outshooting the Valiants 13-5, but were unable to get one past the keeper.
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made two saves for Wilkes.
