Wilkes Men's Swimming Posts Best Finish at Diamond City Invitational
WILKES-BARRE – After finishing the previous three Diamond City Invitationals in sixth place, the Wilkes University men's swim team finished in fifth place out of 11 teams in the 2017 version after completing the final session Sunday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley CYC hosted by King's College.

The relay team of
Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor),
Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic),
Anthony Stampone (Kent Island, MD/Kent Island), and
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) set a new record in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:23.66, good for a fifth place finish.
Byrne set new records in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle during the 1650 race, finishing the 1650 race in 18:05.23, finishing in seventh place.
Tyler Weatherby (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester County Institutional Technology) finished 10
th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:18.17.
Christopher Daley (Bethlehem, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) finished 12
th in the 1650 freestyle in 19:39.14.
Martino was 14
th in the 200 backstroke at 2:17.63.
Burda came in 15
th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.11.
Thurman Fogleman (York, PA/William Penn) was 15
th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:37.27.
Stampone finished 16
th in the 100 freestyle at 52.13.
The Colonels return to the pool on December 3
rd when they head to Lycoming for a 2:00 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) meet.
