Wilkes Women's Swimming's Comeback Effort Falls Just Short in 88-85 Loss to Penn State Altoona
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's swimming team closed the team scoring gap in the final three events but fell 88-85 to Penn State Altoona Friday night at the Wyoming Valley CYC in a non-conference meet.
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) set a new Wilkes record in winning the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:02.49.

Lady Colonel swimmers finished first in six of the 11 events but Wilkes fell to 0-8 overall this season while Penn State Altoona improved to 3-4.
Keating also won the 500 Freestyle in 5:38.76.
The 400 Freestyle Relay team of
Morgan Williams (Scranton, PA/West Scranton),
Allie Aspey (Dover, PA/Dover),
Julia Rostron (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area), and Keating finished first with a time of 4:09.01.
Williams took first place in the 1000 Freestyle finishing in 11:48.18. She finished second in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:52.22.
Aspey placed first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:18.16 and came in second place in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:14.22.
Kyleigh Smeltzer (Manchester, PA/Northeastern) won the 50 Freestyle in 28.48 and she finished second the 100 Backstroke in 1:17.14.
Brianna Sailor (Philadelphia, PA/Milton Hershey) was second in the 50 Freestyle coming in at 31.47.
Cassie Merrill (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) placed second in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:07.28.
The Lady Colonels are off until mid-January when they return to the pool and Middle Atlantic Conference action Saturday, January 13 at Misericordia University at 1:00 p.m. in Dallas, Pa.
