Eastern Tops Wilkes Women's Basketball 97-51 in Season Finale
ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's basketball team traveled to Eastern University for its Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom season finale on Saturday afternoon where it fell be a 97-51 final score.
The Lady Colonels finished their season 5-20 overall and 0-14 in MAC Freedom play.
The Eagles started the first quarter on a 13-0 run through the first 4:24 en route to a 25-3 lead after one quarter, and entered halftime with a 49-20 lead.
Eastern outscored Wilkes 48-31 in the second half.
The Lady Colonels were led by senior
Missy Oertner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland), who finished with 12 points. Senior
Emelie Meinhart (Bowmanstown, PA/Palmerton) added eight points and five rebounds while freshman
Amber Grohowski (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) contributed a career-high seven points and four rebounds off the bench.
The Eagles were led by senior Emily Lavin, who finished with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Junior Taylor Price (15 points, six rebounds, three assists), sophomore Regie Robinson (10 points, nine rebounds, five assists), sophomore Ashley Kurdziolek (19 points), and junior Amber Anderson (10 points, five rebounds) rounded out the double-digit scorers for Eastern.
