Wilkes Men's Basketball Concludes Season with 93-69 Defeat at Eastern
ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's basketball team concluded its season with a 93-69 defeat at Eastern University in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Saturday afternoon.
The Colonels finished their season 12-13 overall and 6-8 in MAC Freedom play.
Eastern started the game on a 6-2 run before Wilkes used an 8-2 run to take a 10-8 lead 3:15 into the first half. The Colonels maintained a three-point 15-12 lead following a layup from junior
Zach Brunner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) with 14:46 left on the clock until halftime. The Eagles finished the half on a 37-16 run to enter the half with a 49-31 lead.
Eastern started the second half on a 28-4 run to take a 65-35 lead with 14:22 left and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Wilkes was led by freshman
Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley), who finished with 13 points and three rebounds. Freshman
Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) added 10 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
The Eagles were led by senior Shaquan Turk (15points, six assists) and senior Austin Carroll (15points, three assists). Senior Lincoln Holley (13 points, three assists), senior Greg Boyd (10 points, five rebounds, five assists), sophomore Victory Peña (14 points, five rebounds) and junior Anthony Concepcion (11 points) all finished in double-figures.
