FORT PIERCE, Fl. – The Wilkes University baseball team faced off with Chestnut Hill College on Sunday afternoon, falling by a 10-3 final in game four of its spring break trip to Fort Pierce.

The Colonels are now 3-3 on the season.

The Griffins came out strong to start the game, scoring three runs in the first, two runs in the second, one run in the third, two runs in the fifth, one run in the sixth, and one run in the seventh.

The Colonels got on the board with two runs in the seventh on two hits, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. After a groundout, freshman Alex Halladay (West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin) was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a single from sophomore Alex Palmer (Shrewsbury, PA/Susquehannock). Freshman Adam Martinese (Conway, NH/Kennett) followed with an rbi single to score Halladay and advancing Palmer to second. Following a walk to sophomore Sam Eyler (York, PA/West York) to load the bases, junior Dan Eicher (Massapequa Park, NY/Kellenberg) hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Palmer and moving Martinese to third.

Wilkes added its final run in the top of the ninth on two hits. After a strikeout, Palmer singled, stole second, and came around to score on a double from Martinese.
