Wilkes Men's Volleyball Concludes Inaugural Season with 3-1 Loss at PSU Altoona
ALTOONA, PA – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team concluded its inaugural season with a 3-1 loss at Penn State Altoona on Monday night.
Wilkes finished the first season in program history in 2017 with a 9-16 overall record.
Wilkes opened with a 25-23 win in the first set before the host Lions posted three straight wins 25-17, 25-18 and 25-19 to clinch the home victory.
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke) led all Wilkes hitters with a match-high 17 kills, two service aces and nine digs.
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) and
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) followed with nine kills each while Sales led the passing game with 28 assists.
Mike Morrison (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and
Dylan Smith (York, Pa./Dallastown) each recorded four kills while combining for nine digs in the match.
Wilkes will return all but one member of this year's squad for its second season in 2018.
