Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 15-8 Win at Centenary


HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 15-8 win over Centenary University on Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Colonels improved to 5-9 overall this season.

Wilkes got on the board first as Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) scored back-to-back unassisted goals at 26:17 and 22:25 in the first half.

Centenary cut the lead to 2-1 with 19:38 remaining in the half.

The Lady Colonels pushed their lead to 3-1 with 17:52 on the clock when Reilly Meanor (Etters, PA/Red Land) scored with an assist from Held.

The Cyclones then scored three consecutive goals over the next 12 minutes to take a 4-3 lead with 4:12 on the clock.

Wilkes finished the first half with an unassisted goal from Held at 3:41 and from Meanor with an assist to Held with 2:52 left to enter halftime with a 5-4 lead.

The Lady Colonels expanded their lead with consecutive goals from Meanor, one unassisted with 26:07 on the clock and one with an assist from Held at 25:11 in the second half to push the lead to 7-4.

Centenary scored an unassisted goal with 18:49 left in the game to cut the lead to 7-5.

Held countered with back-to-back unassisted goals at 15:40 and 14:00 before Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) added an unassisted goal at 12:59 to extend the lead to 10-5.

The Cyclones added two goals to inch closer at 10-7.

Wilkes finished with five of the final six goals in the game, coming from Held, Boccio twice, Meanor, and Held again, all unassisted.

Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) earned the win, making 14 saves.

The Lady Colonels conclude their season on Saturday when they travel to FDU-Florham on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
