Wilkes Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Road Contest at Clarks Summit
CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – The Wilkes University men's soccer team held the heavy advantage in shots but could not find a goal in a 2-0 defeat at Clarks Summit University Thursday evening.
Wilkes fell to 2-3 on the season while Clarks Summit moved to 4-3.
Sophomore
Zephrin Morse (Easton, PA/Easton) had three shots on goal to lead a list of nine Colonels that hit the target with opportunities.
Freshman
Danny McGinley (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) led the team with six total shot attempts. Morse had four,
Jeffrey Eager-Heffner (Blandon, PA/Fleetwood Area) and
Alvaro Fernandez-Maldonado (Louisville, CO/Scranton) had three, while
Camry Huff (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro),
Tyler Kukosky (Sweet Valley, PA/Holy Redeemer), and
Shane Henehan (Bensalem, PA/Mast Community Charter School) had two.
As a team, Wilkes outshot Clarks Summit 26-7 and held a 12-2 shots-on-goal advantage. The Colonels also held the advantage in corner kick opportunities by a count of 8-2 over the Defenders.
Ian Self scored in the 42
nd minute to provide what would be the game-winning goal. Nathan Hubbard added Clarks Summit's second goal in the 75
th minute. Timothy Grau kept Wilkes off the scoresheet with 12 saves.
Wilkes closes out a four-game non-conference road trip when it faces Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, September 16 at 4:00 p.m.
