Wilkes Basketball Heads To Misericordia for Wednesday Tilts

WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams close out the first half of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play Wednesday night with road tilts at Misericordia University.

The men will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. in a pivotal game atop the MAC Freedom standings. The women's game will follow at 8:00 p.m. Live links have been provided below courtesy of the Misericordia University Sports Information Department:

The Colonels enter the mid-week matchup at 12-5 overall and in a three-way tie for first with Misericordia and Eastern at 5-1 in the MAC Freedom. They are coming off consecutive home conference wins against DeSales University (72-66) and King's College (76-64).

Marcus Robinson (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) leads Wilkes and is fourth in the MAC Freedom scoring 14.8 points-per-game (ppg). He became the the 32nd player in school history to reach 1,000 career points in Saturday's win against King's. Robinson is averaging 5.9 rebounds-per-game (rpg) (t-10th), 1.8 assists-per-game (apg) (t-19th), has made 42 three-point field goals (3rd), and is shooting 78.3 percent from the foul line (4th). Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) is scoring 14.3 ppg (6th), grabbing 5.1 rpg (t-18th), and dishing out 2.7 apg (6th). He has also made 34 three-pointers (t-6th).

Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) is scoring 12.9 ppg (10th) and averaging 7.4 rpg (3rd) and 1.8 apg (t-19th) with 1.8 steals-per-game (4th). Zach Brunner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) was named the MAC Freedom Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday and is scoring 8.8 ppg (30th) and pulling down 7.3 rpg (4th). He averaged 14.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg last week. Connor Evans (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) is averaging in double figures scoring with 11.3 ppg and 2.4 apg after missing the first eight games of the season.

Wilkes is scoring 76.1 ppg while allowing its opponents 69.3 ppg.

Misericordia enters with a 10-7 overall record and 5-1 in the conference after falling to DeSales 90-83 Saturday on the road for its first MAC Freedom loss.

Jason Kenny leads the conference with 20.6 ppg and is tied for second with 3.6 apg. Tre' Fields (14.0), Tony Harding (12.4), and Noah Rovera (10.4) also score in doubles figures for the Cougars. Fields leads the MAC Freedom with 33.4 minutes-per-game.

The Cougars are averaging 80.4 ppg and allowing 75.6 ppg.

The Lady Colonels come into the game with a 4-13 overall record and 0-6 in the MAC Freedom. They fell 65-60 Monday night at Alvernia University in their last non-conference game of the season.

Catey McFadden (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) and Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) lead the team with 9.9 ppg (t-17th in the conference). McFadden is averaging 7.0 rpg (7th) and 1.2 blocks-per-game (t-4th). Roberts is averaging 6.8 rpg (9th). Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross) is scoring 9.6 ppg (20th) and 2.4 apg (t-9th). She is 68-of-85 for 80.0 percent from the free-throw stripe (5th). Chelsea Erkes (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored a career-high 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc Monday at Alvernia. Maddie Kelley (Dallas, PA/Dallas) is averaging 3.8 ppg this season but 12.5 over the past two games.

Wilkes is scoring 60.2 ppg and giving up 76.6 ppg.

Misericordia is 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the MAC Freedom after back-to-back conference wins against King's and DeSales.

Rachel Carmody (11.3) and Japriya Carroll (10.8) are scoring in double figures for the Cougars. Paige Wampole averaged 15.0 ppg and 13.0 rpg in two games last week. Those numbers were well above her season averages of 9.8 ppg and 8.9 rpg. Wampole was named the MAC Freedom Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts.

The Cougars average 66.3 ppg and allow 52.7 ppg.
