Wilkes Men's Swimming Cruises to Road Victory
NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Wilkes University men's swimming team dominated Mount St. Mary College 153-46 on Saturday afternoon. The win pushes the Colonels to 2-0 on the season while the Knights fall to 0-1.
The Colonels had a trio of triple event winners in Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor), Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) and Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship).
Byrne won the 200 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay while breaking his own school record (5:09:58) in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08:08.
Antolick was also apart of the 200 freestyle relay team while capturing the top spots in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. The 50 freestyle was a close race as Antolick edged out the second-place swimmer by .01 hundredths of a second.
Harloff secured a victory as part of the 200 medley relay team before winning as an individual in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.
Other winners included Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), who was a part of that medley relay and won the 100 backstroke and Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), who won the 100 butterfly by .21 hundredths of a second.
Wilkes men's swimming returns to the pool in their home opener on October 27th when they welcome Immaculata University to the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center at 1:00 p.m.
