Wilkes Women's Swimming Drops Road Meet
NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Wilkes University women's swimming team fell to Mount St. Mary College 122-73 on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Colonels to 1-1 on the season while the Knights (1-0) win their first individual meet of the 2018.
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) was the standout for the Colonels, winning three events.
Keating started the day by winning the 200 medley relay alongside teammates Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville), Allie Aspey (Dover, PA/Dover) and Jessica Turnitza (Cumbola, PA/Pottsville) with an overall time of 31.52.
Keating continued the day by taking the 100 butterfly at 1:05:46 to win convincingly by almost under four seconds.
Her third win of the day came in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15:21 while Detweiler captured second place in the event for the Colonels.
Morgan Williams (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) bested four Mount St Mary's swimmers to capture the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:55:58 to win by seven seconds.
Wilkes women's swimming returns home on October 27th when they welcome Immaculata University to the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center at 1:00 p.m.
