Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Drops Home Debut to Oswego State
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team competed in its inaugural home game at the Toyota SportsPlex Sunday afternoon, dropping a non-conference contest to Oswego State 5-0.
With the loss Wilkes dropped to 0-2 this season while Oswego State moved to 2-0.
Alexa Rango (Hopewell Junction, NY/) and
Ally Joly (Lincoln, RI/) were both strong between the pipes for the Colonels. Rango made 23 saves including 18 in the first period before Joly replaced her at the 9:24 mark of the second period. Joly proceeded to make 38 stops.
The Lakers scored two first period goals and added three more in the third period to leave with the 5-0 win.
Laurenne Fraser (Salt Lake City, UT/) won 10 face offs and
Ashley Murry (Morgantown, PA/) was successful on eight to lead the Colonels.
Wilkes returns to the ice next weekend when Nazareth College travels to Wilkes-Barre for a pair of games at the Toyota SportsPlex. The first meeting will be Friday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m. and the series will close on Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. puck drop.
