Wilkes Men's Swimming Sets More Records in Placing Second at the Diamond Invitational
WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team set three more program records on day two of the 2018 Diamond City Invitational Sunday at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center on its way to a second place finish out of nine teams in the two-day meet. Overall the team set nine new records and the second place finish was the best for the men's team at the annual event since the program rebirth in 2014.
The Colonels earned 574 total points while King's College, the host school, scored 673.5 points to take first place.

Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor) set his third individual record and was a part of his fourth relay record of the weekend when he led off the 400 Freestyle Relay. He broke the Wilkes 100 Freestyle record with a time of 47.88. The team of Byrne,
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin),
Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) and
Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) broke the relay record with a total time of 3:16.11 and placed second to earn 34 team points.
Timothy Sechler-Stone (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) set the other program record Sunday with a time of 2:06.70 in the 200 Backstroke. He placed sixth in the race to score 13 points. Martino placed 13
th to earn four more points with a time of 2:13.24 in the race.
Antolick finished second in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 48.93 to earn 17 points. In the same race
Ziyad Khafagy (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) (9
th, 51.60) earned nine points and
Anthony Stampone (Grasnonville, MD/Kent Island) (13
th, 52.17) earned four points.
Byrne took third place to earn 16 more points in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:07.15. Also earning points for Wilkes in the race were

Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) (10
th, 2:12.25) and
Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (11

In the 200 Breaststroke Harloff led the way for the Colonels in sixth place with a time of 2:21.33 to earn 13 points.
Connor Brought (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) (12
th, 2:33.95) and
Daniel Micozzi (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) (14
th, 2:40.96) earned five and three points respectively.
Christopher Daley (Center Valley, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) placed ninth in the 1650 Freestyle to earn nine points with a total time of 18:31.22.
The team of Burda, Stampone, Daley and Khafagy placed ninth in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:26.21 to earn Wilkes 18 points.
The Colonels return to the pool on Saturday, December 1 for a home Middle Atlantic Conference meet at the Wyoming Valley CYC against Lycoming College at 1:00 p.m.
