Wilkes Men's Swimming Earns Split at Tri-Meet
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's swimming team raced past Lebanon Valley College 171-19 while narrowly falling to Dickinson College 107-92 on Saturday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center.

With the win, the Colonels record stands at 4-1 this season. The Red Devils won twice on the day to improve to 2-1 while the Dutchmen dropped both contests to fall to 0-3.
The Colonels began the meet by finishing second and third in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor), Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship), Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) finishing with a time of 1:41.09, just behind Dickinson College (140.42).
Byrne earned Wilkes their first individual victory of the meet when he won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:47.85 to win the race comfortably by three seconds.
In a 12 swimmer 50 Freestyle, the Colonels would capture the second and third spots with Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) (23.14) and Antolick (23.16) finishing just behind a swimmer from Dickinson (22.15).
After breaking the program record for the 200 IM at last weekend's meet, Harloff shaved five hundredths of a second off his time finishing in 2:05.30 for third place.
Burda would secure another second-place finish for the Colonels, this time in the 100 Butterfly, with a time of 55.88.
Antolick (51.06) walked away with a second-place finish in the 100 Freestyle ahead of teammate Ziyad Khafagy (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) (51.48) to give Wilkes two of the top three finishers in the 10 man race.
Building off his record breaking finish in the 200 IM, Harloff cruised to victory in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.96) besting his teammate Tyler Weatherby (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology) (1:08.38) by nearly five seconds.
The Colonels would end the meet by taking the top three spots in the 200 Freestyle Relay with the team of Martino, Anthony Stampone (Grasnonville, MD/Kent Island), Khafagy and Burda finishing in 1:33.74 for the win.
Wilkes returns to the pool in two weeks when they participate in the Diamond Invitational hosted by King's College on Saturday, November 17th and Sunday November 18th.
