Wilkes Women's Swimming Falls at Tri-Meet
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's swimming team lost to Lebanon Valley College 131.50-67.50 while falling to Dickinson College 116-60 on Saturday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center.
With the loss, the Colonels record drops to 2-3 this season. The Red Devils won twice on the day to improve to 2-1 while the Dutchmen earned a split to improve to 1-2.
Results
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) had a strong showing for the Colonels, beginning her day by placing second out of 10 in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:06.18. She would add another second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly (1:05.19).
Jessica Turnitza (Cumbola, PA/Pottsville) earned herself a third-place finish in the 17 swimmer 50 Freestyle with a time of 28.05 before taking second in the 500 Freestyle at 6:05.05 behind a swimmer from Lebanon Valley.
The 100 Breaststroke saw two Colonels place in the top three as Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville) finished in second-place at 1:17.00 ahead of teammate Julia Rostron (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) (1:21.41), who captured third.
Wilkes capped the day with a second-place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay with the team of Keating, Allie Aspey (Dover, PA/Dover), Morgan Williams (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) and Turnitza completing the race in 1:51.10.
Wilkes returns to the pool in two weeks when they participate in the Diamond Invitational hosted by King's College on Saturday, November 17th and Sunday November 18th.
